Synopsis:
Avatar is the story of an ex-Marine who finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the indigenous people. More than ten years in the making, Avatar marks Cameron's return to feature directing since helming 1997's Titanic, the highest grossing film of all time and winner of eleven Oscars including Best Picture. WETA Digital, renowned for its work in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and King Kong, will incorporate new intuitive CGI technologies to transform the environments and characters into photorealistic 3D imagery that will transport the audience into the alien world rich with imaginative vistas, creatures and characters.
Review:
As the first 3D movie I have ever watched, it was pretty worth it, waiting till such a huge hit. The plot, as everyone tells me, is not much of a plot. As my ex-colleague phrased it... Boy meets girl, boy likes girl, boy realizes world is in danger, boy saves the world, boy gets the girl. There!
On the other hand, everyone knows that the attraction of the movie lies in the beautiful CGI... and it was truly beautiful... 3D may not be right down my alley, since I emerged with a headache, not the pounding type, but more of a constant throbbing one. The good thing was, once I got my normal perspective back, and after some food and drinks in my stomach, I recovered without the need for external help (aka, the mighty panadol).
I wish there were new worlds to discover... I wish my life wasn't as mundane as this... I wish I knew what I want in life... but alas... I can wish all I want... books remain books, movies remain movies, and the life and world as I know it, remains the same. Sometimes, a fantastical world is just that... a fantasy, an escape... it's a great movie to watch, and I would love to watch it again in the normal 2D again... I shall wait for it's arrival on HBO... :)

You know, everywhere I've read mentioned something about this being Dances with Wolves + Fern Gully lol.
I haven't watched it yet and am no longer keen to, I suppose. Can always wait for DVD or 5 years. haha!

Actually, I think you would enjoy it... a lot. You really ought to reconsider the decision not to catch it on the big screen and on 3D...
