Synopsis:
On a fall night in 2003, Harvard undergrad and computer programming genius Mark Zuckerberg sits down at his computer and heatedly begins working on a new idea. In a fury of blogging and programming, what begins in his dorm room soon becomes a global social network and a revolution in communication. A mere six years and 500 million friends later, Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest billionaire in history... but for this entrepreneur, success leads to both personal and legal complications. From director David Fincher and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin comes The Social Network, a film that proves you don't get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies. The film is produced by Scott Rudin, Dana Brunetti, Michael De Luca, and Cean Chaffin and based on the book "The Accidental Billionaires" by Ben Mezrich.
Review:
Well, first off... trying to differentiate fiction from the truth. It's tough, so I googled it... *naturally*... and tadah... http://www.getthebigpicture.net/blog/2010/10/4/the-truth-about-social-network-fact-vs-fiction.html
It did answer some of the burning questions I had... assuming the source is correct that is.. Soo... it is a good movie... sufficiently fast paced, with extremely witty dialogues and leaves you wondering what the F*** you are doing with your life when you should be doing your thing and discovering the next big "thing"... Yeah right...
Anyway... the story was covulated but they spoilt it a little at the end, as the approach was partial fact, partial fiction. It is like a documentary that does not respect fiction and fiction that does not respect documentary. It is like those sports drama that are based on "true" stories, they add vinegar, pepper, non-existent characters, and a dash a truth.
So, the only grouse I have with this was, I didn't know what to believe. Even the link above just proves that there is no judgement to be made, it is fiction, fiction earning from the "talk of the town"... it's the same as the latest tabloid earning due to the scandal (fabricated or otherwise) of Lindsey Lohan or something.
Watch with a pinch of salt and assume everything false (other than some milestones dates, which are published on the FB website anyway and finally! I can confirm as facts).. still... good acting and very very good script writing.
