In Shock

I am on a day's leave, and a morning halfday tmr... cuz of World Cup, and the fact that the matches show at an unearthly hour. Also the fact that I haven't been taking much leave, and my workload of late hasn't been particularly heavy... all can be done within hours, with time to spare! :P So, I am in shock.. cuz of the recent spate of results... I am also starting to suffer from withdrawal symptoms at the thought that there will be no more matches to watch.

Soo... what am I going to do at home? I have no idea... I have overspent this month (am in shock over how I managed to spend so much as well)...such that I have spent all the monies I can spend for this month and next... so for my faithful readers (yes, the 2/3 of you! :p)... cheap food okay? Not necessarily always foodcourt, but ideally less than $10 per meal when we go out.

What should I do? Maybe I should start to borrow books from the library (it's free) and huddle at home (it's free) and just hibernate for a month or so, until the coffers are back to normal levels. The best is, the bills are in my credit card, and I am monitoring it manually it, so the bill is not in. For the life of me, I cannot remember when the cycle ends, so I have NO idea when it would become due and when I am supposed to pay.

With that lack of clarity, I end up wondering about which month's salary would be the one affected, is it this month, or can I stretch it to next... (Post Edit: oh, it's this month's pay... ah well, good news lah, just poor for one month, in August I will be "Yi Tiao Long" again!) Don't get me wrong, I have sufficient funds to pay them off, it just means the "thou shalt save $XX on a monthly basis" is affected by this... :P I hate not saving cuz I have this annual goal and I was more or less on track to meet it, now it may be affected...

Plus, my mom's 55th & dad's 60th Birthday coming up in Nov (yes, both Nov), supposed to save up for it... cuz these are all auspicous ages to reach, so we will definitely be spending a lot... dinner.. mebbe a golden tiger/goat? hahah... see how!

Now, my only conclusion is, I really need to get a promotion, and a hefty pay raise! HAHAHA... well, that's of course talking to the air and talk doesn't mean a lot, since I am on leave and nua-ing at home, instead of fighting really hard for my promotion! Not that I know how to fight for a promotion, other than me trying to do my best at all times. Hmm... come to think of it, how does one "fight for a promotion"?

Kill my colleagues, "Sar kar" the boss, FIGHT for big projects (but those, you don't deliver, you will also die an inglorious death)... any more?

Netherlands vs Slovakia

And I think I can just provide some random commentary while watching the Dutch Slovakian match... And since I am a Liverpool fan, it plays Kyut versus Skyrtel... :)

Skyrtel is one scary looking man, firstly cuz he looks all boney, and secondly, cuz he has all these tattoos... Kyut on the other hand.. is the man who works very hard, but somehow lacks flair and a little of the final finishing touch that would have placed him heads and shoulders above if he did. And I am hoping of course, that this match, Kyut would prove to me that he is an excellent finisher. Not least since I have my monies on the Dutch being 2 goals up by full time. HIAKZ!

So far, it's been a borning match and we are already 16 minutes into the game... both sides haven't had any real chances. Oh wait, Dutch did have one possiblt chance, except Van Persie didn't head it in...

Now the match will really open up... :) Slovakia will ditch the more defensive approach.. and hopefully if will be a goal fiesta... with Netherlands to win by at least 2/3 goals of course..

Sidenote: Hmm.. I feel like a snack.. but I was just feeling very full from my beehoon mixed fish soup.. got add milk some more! Must be my imagination.. I am delusional. I am not hungry.. I am not...

Oohh.. the dutch are moving up again... 6 white shirts in the area and they are not able to get into the penalty box area...

this match is rather boring leh... I need another goal.. Go Netherlands Go!

Germany vs England

Live Commentary while I watch the England vs Germany Game:

08 mins: I am full of hope. England seem to be holding up well although Germany seems the more dangerous side in these opening minutes.
09mins: Ooohhh... I hope that Rooney will finally put on his scoring boots
10mins: Mild heart attack moment... luckily England fell back fast enough to defend and prevent a potential disaster.
14mins: Both sides seem to be playing rather cautiously for now, and I would imagine this is due to the fact that it's a knockout stage and everyone's very wary of conceding the first goal.
15mins: First shot on goal by England, but it was an attempt without fangs.
17mins: Free kick to England, and in a fairly good position. Hope flares up!
18mins: Lampard taking it
19mins: He couldn't get past the German wall... but now England have position and are moving up. Throw in by England, no cake.
19mins: SHIT! Goal by Klose...

*England will need a good halftime talk to psych themselves up to take the game germany. Score 3 more gaols, so they are two up against the Germans. Wonder what tactical changes Capello will make? Will he play Gerrard higher up?.. On the other hand, wonder if the Germans will pull back and defend their slender lead of 1 goal? Admittedly, the goal fiesta in the first half was a result of a willingness to commit man to attack, instead of playing defensive football to take the game to penalties as some other teams are apt to do...

45mins: The game kicks off without any substitions being made to both teams.
47mins: Freekick to England, Foal by Germany's Fiedrich and he receives the first yellow for this game.
51mins: Another free kick to England... and Lamp's hit hit's the woodwork. Darn... that man is cursed!
52mins: And England flood up again... with a wasted cross by Milner.
54mins: Corner to Germany.
56mins: Ohh... Defoe's opportunity was wasted when he couldn't control the ball running in from a good pass..
61mins: England has had plenty of good opportunities but they were not able to convert. Germany has also had a couple of chances and even if England should equalize, the game could swing either way.
64mins: Joe Cole comes in for James Milner, hopefully he would add more edge down the flanks.
65mins: Free Kick to England. Freidrech the suspect again. He is already on a yellow, and I sure hope he gets his second soon..
66mins: Lampard taking the free kick... Germany counter attacks and Muller scores... England's hopes are going down the drain [3-1]

77mins: I don't support England, but my money's on them. This game is just too painful to watch. As an EPL follower, I feel for the English.. but they really can't counter the Germans. It's sad... really sad.
78mins: With this team, Germany could really make it all the way to the finals... Unbelievable... the England squad can't find any answer to them. The Bad blood between the two team will continue and maybe they will meet in Euro 2012...
80mins: Germany continue to press forward on counter attacks, while England searches for their 2nd goal.. it is not forthcoming.
