News Flash by Le Grouch

So I have been trying to be diligent in catching up with what's happening in the world. I have opinions of course, that no one else is interested in, and so, whoever it is that chanced upon this blog... you shall now bear the brunt of my diligence!

1. The missing MH370 plane
I was given the theory and so far, it does seem to be the most plausible, which is the plane had stuff/people that some extremists wanted, and so, the plane was diverted to some deserted location. Everyone would have been executed. :( As the value of life in the eyes of extremist is very low.

2. The ferry that sank
It's a sad day when you hear of the number of lives lost. It is sadder when you learn that they were mostly kids. When you hear of the faith they had in the authority figure (tragically misplaced), you realize that sometimes, you have to make life's own decision, so that you can live. And the captain and crew that survived, I don't know how they will live.

3. The political drama in Thailand
I don't know, can't quite take sides but the manner in which parliament was dissolved and the prime minister being ousted in such an unfair manner, for now, my preference is for the one that fights above board. Win squarely and fairly in an election I say. But of course, my opinion is pointless as I am not a Thai.

4. The biggest election
I am referring to the biggest election in India of course. I believe religion and politics (although it has always been tied historically) has to be delinked. For a Hindu extremist (no offence against Hindus) to rule a country that has home to so many other religions, is stepping on very dangerous territory. Intolerance of other religions has seen the sad history of too many massacres. Corruption on the other hand, is actually less scary. You can oust them out like the Thais. But religion... can either unite or divide. And for such a big country, very very dangerous. Anyway, we will see May 16.

5. The bodoh - Boko Haram
This idiot went and abduct 276 girls from their school and has threatened to (or has already) sold the girls into slavery. Why oh why? Again for religion. They were studying in Christian schools and this dude is using the name of Islam (and converting the girls) for these ridiculous acts. Why despoil religion? Regardless of whatever religion you are in, the aim, the only aim for most religion, is to help you be a better person! Sigh.

6. The mess in Ukraine
I feel like the poor country barely took one step forward, before taking at least 10 steps backwards. And now? Destitute and barely able to stand up to the demands and manoeuvres from hungry neighbours like Russia, and aid that comes at a price from the IMF. And of course, throw in civil war. A recipe for disaster, I wonder how this problem can be resolved. I just hope innocents don't suffer for the wrong decisions that their leaders have taken. (Oh, and the leader has fled. Oh well, the new leaders)

7. MERS and Ebola
And finally, seems like a there's a new pandemic and again, news of death tolls that keeps climbing higher - in Saudi and in Africa. I can only hope that some brilliant doctor/researcher, will be able to find the cure, so that the fears of people can be allayed. That the cure is one that is available to all and not just the rich. I know, we solve one problem and another pops up. But still, it's not like we can just stop trying to solve the problem. The world and life is filled with problems. We just need to solve them one at a time.

News flash over. Nothing too positive yeah? Hahaha.. I think negative news sells and that too, is disturbing. On this note... regardless of all you read, stay positive folks! There are happiness and miracles taking place all over the world! They are just not being reported. :D

Hahaha... glad you found it entertaining... just as I find it entertaining to read about the antics that your three kids get up to! :D

Yah lah, but the protests seem to be dying down, the government is heightening security and police presence to try and curb it. And you are right, can't we just have some peace in the world? Sigh...
